New to Yoga
What we know as modern day yoga rises out of an ancient meditation heritage dating back at least 5,000 years. Widely proven to be extremely beneficial to students of all ages, body types and levels of strength and flexibility, yoga brings greater balance, health and well being to its practitioners. Hatha Yoga, which encompasses all of the various forms of physical yoga, integrates the thousands of yoga postures and poses, known as asanas, with movement and breathing.
Contrary to some beliefs, yoga can be a complete workout, providing stretching, strengthening and lengthening as well as cardiovascular benefits. Yoga also compliments and enhances performance in other physical activities and sports through increased flexibility, better posture, greater energy and stamina, improved circulation and better muscle tone. Aside from the physical benefits, yoga practitioners also experience more peace of mind, hold a calmer, more balanced outlook on life, and are able to manage stress and the pressures of the modern world more efficiently.
Medical research has also shown that Yoga can benefit those with conditions such as arthritis, asthma, high and low blood pressure, carpel tunnel syndrome, heart disease, injuries, symptoms of menopause and more. Before starting any exercise program, it is always recommended that you consult with your physician.
